Time for one more

Last night I was sitting watching 60 Minutes with Mr Valley and one of the segments was about a known criminal who has been let off time and again for doing to women what should never be done, resulting in death. The report showed conversations with mothers who had lost their loved ones as result of their being victims of various men's crimes. It was heart-wrenching.

Before the little Valley's bedtime I sat on the floor watching them play and read, reflecting how in a few short years they would not be interested in train sets or kid's books anymore. They would be teenagers, blossoming into an increasing unknown. I cherished the moment and could not rush them to bed for my own convenience (despite battling a flu that has left me aching all over and just wanting to hibernate).

These kinds of days are precious, and as parents we do well to embrace them to the full as much as possible. The future doesn't look bright, and the Bible says it IS going to get worse before the end. We often run around complaining about society or doing our bit to fix it, but it will get worse.

The undeniable upshot is that we don't need to hit the panic button because we can know the One who knows all outcomes.

In the meantime, there is ALWAYS time for one more hug! - Be it with your kids, with friends, or with family. Make the time. And enjoy what you have, especially because you know the One who knows...

WHEN was your last hug?

But Esau ran to meet Jacob and embraced him; he threw his arms around his neck and kissed him. And they wept. Genesis 33v4.

Esaü courut à sa rencontre; il l’embrassa, se jeta à son cou, et le baisa. Et ils pleurèrent.
